THE AIRBORNE FORCES MEMORIAL

Saturday 20th June 2015

This years memorial event was a special one, as two new items were being added to the memorial. The first was a new bronze Parachute Regiment cap badge, which was placed on the back of the Pegasus plinth and measured about three feet across. The second was an information plinth at the foot of the ramp leading upto the memorial, which explained the history of the Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces.

This was a well attended ceremony, with approximately 300 PRA members in attendance, as well as the Colonel commandent Lt Gen John Lorimer and other high ranking officers from Regimental Headquarters, soldiers representing the regular and reserve battalions of the Parachute Regiment were also in attendance.

Unfortunetly it rained for part of the service, but on the whole, the day was another fantastic chance to catch up with old friends and remember the fallen.
