THE NEWARK BBQ
Sunday 3rd August 2015
This year's Newark BBQ was held once again at Arn Andrews Sunnybrook Farm at Bathley, near Newark. It was another great day. The Sun was shining and another very big turn out from people from five different PRA Branches.
This year's event included the bowls competition and the edition of a shooting stand. This comprised of two pre-charged air rifles, spotting scope, range finder, reactive and paper targets, and all under cover of a gazebo, including shooting tables and chairs, supplied by Mark Holding (Treasurer) Nottingham Branch, and assisted by his Son Jake Holding, were able to offer attendees the chance to try out on the shooting range. Arn had also supplied a BSA Spring powered air rifle, so the two types of rifle could be used side by side over the 20 yard to 36 yard outdoor range, which was open all throughout the day.
This year’s bowling competition was a very tight event. Last year’s winners, Newark Branch were once again in the final with the Spalding Branch, taking the title for two years in a row, at the end of the day.
As usual the BBQ and buffet were outstanding, and the raffle which was drawn at the end of the event helped raise around £200.
The Newark BBQ is always one of the highlights of the year, and this had been a great day for all who attended.

THE NEWARK BBQ
Sunday 3rd August 2014
Sunday the 3rd of August was the annual BBQ, hosted by Arn Andrews and his wife at Sunnybrook Farm, near Bathley, Newark.
PRA members arrived from around 12:00 hrs. to be welcomed by Arn Andrews and his wife, and Joe King and Trevor Smith, who had set up the BBQ and were preparing to get the meats ready for the BBQ. Members from Newark, Lincoln, Nottingham and Spalding Branches steadily grew in strength, and all shared a drink and banter in the meantime.
Arn also organised a bowls competition between the four Branches. The final scores were:
1st Place Newark Branch
2nd Place Spalding Branch
3rd Place Lincoln Branch
4th Place Nottingham Branch
Hopefully next year will see Nottingham's place moving up the ladder, by at least one place. Even so, we all had a great day out in the Sunshine.
From all members of the Nottingham Branch that attended the BBQ, we thank Arn, and the Newark Branch, for another great day hosted for all the Branches.

A memorial is now located at the Orchard Park in the village, where they paid their respects to the fallen.
