About Nottingham Branch

The Nottingham Branch of the Parachute Regimental Association has been based in Nottingham for almost 50 years. Our branch consists of members from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th battalions of the Parachute Regiment, as well as Airborne support units ranging from gunners, medics, REME and Engineers, who all formed, and still form, the modern Airborne Brigade of today. Former members of the Special Air Service are also part of the Airborne Forces, and as such, are also welcome to join our branch. Members from 22 and 23 SAS are with in our group.

Nottingham has always had a close link with the Airborne Forces. As well as the regular catchment area for all the Airborne Forces, Nottingham has had it's very own Airborne Unit for almost 40 years, this has been in the form of 144 Parachute Field Ambulance, now based at Triumph Road in Nottingham. This unit sends a large supply of it's reservists to Afghanistan to support 16 Air Assault Brigade.

During the 1990s 16 detachment 4 PARA were also based at Triumph Road, they evolved from 16 Company Independant Company (Pathfinders) based in Lincoln. Lots of its soldiers came from the Nottingham and Newark areas. and because of this our branch has a large contingiency of 16 Company Pathfinders with in our group.

Since 2009 our branch has now become a Registered charity, along with all the other branches with in the United Kingdom, which total around 85 different locations. Our commitment is to support all our fellow Airborne Soldiers in need, both past and present, and to support the greater Armed Forces community where we can.
